This section captures the different instances of gendered spaces, to understand the associated perceptions and contexts that define the comfort and safety for women to access public spaces. There are multiple factors deciding which spaces women access: when, why and how the culture of the city sometimes influences how women move and act within the public realm. 

We conducted a competition on this theme in March 2022. You can view the featured entries here:

Share your story!

You can contribute your stories and insights on what defines the sense of comfort and safety for women in streets and public spaces. You can share your reflections in the form of a reflective piece of writing, an interview with a stakeholder at the neighbourhood level, a photo essay (with a storyline and captions for each image), a video, a sketch, or a personal geography map.
